So the crazy, manic ISPO Munich 2014 has come to a close. I’ve come
home with blistered feet, lacking in 3 nights sleep and have more than a
thousand photos to sort through but the good news is there are copious
amount of new trends and products for us all to look out for!
For
those of you that haven’t heard of ISPO before, it is the most
important outdoor tradeshow in Europe where all the brands we know and
love show off the next season’s lines. And BOY is it huge. I’m talking,
may as well of bought your hiking boots, massive. Not that there is any
shortage of hiking boots, or anything to do with the beautiful outdoors
at this event. Plus it is in a stunning, mountainous city with views of
the skyline 91 meters high (if your willing to climb 300 stairs). And
not forgetting the English Garden surf wave in the river!
With over 2,565 exhibitors, displaying outdoor products from fold up
kayaks to slacklining equipment, I’m going to run you through my top
three favourite discoveries:
Being Eco friendly is one of the most important things featuring in current outdoor fashion, and in the ISPO Inspire section I found a little gem that we should all check out. The sustainable, tree saving surfboard! Yoni surfboard’s is a Portuguese company creating wooden masterpieces, each tree making 20 boards whilst replanting a tree for each one sold. If that wasn’t cool enough you can even ‘Shape and Stay’ at the Eco Lodge and build your own. Now that would be one hell of a surf trip, Portugal here we come! www.yonisurfboards.com
Girls, prepare to never be indoors again. The ROXY outdoor fitness
collection is bursting with vibrant colours and tropical patterns to
boost your workout. You won’t go unnoticed in this gear! From running
leggings and jackets to wetsuit leggings and shorties for when those
summer months hit us. The patterns are tropical, floral and fresh all at
the same time. Perfect to look stylish and boost those endorphins. I
don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to grab myself a summer wetsuit
when it hits the stores.
As if balancing isn’t hard enough for the less practiced of us, Indo
boards have created plenty of new challenges to get our inner Yoga
goddesses to shine. The new boards come in plenty of designs and colours
to meet you balancing needs. My particular favourite is the Yoga board.
Taking it to the next level, the board takes your practice to an
unstable environment, similar to the popular Stand Up Paddle Yoga, but
this is in your own living room!
Brain overload? Yep, me too, it’s a good thing all things business
come to an end at 5pm and the party starts! Open bar, good music,
energizing vibes and the guys on the Volcom ramp skating after a lot of
pints… all a recipe for a wicked night! Hence for the lack of 3 nights
sleep…
